Project Location:
Old Lincoln Highway and 180th Street to Bob Boozer Avenue and 135th Street, Omaha, Nebraska. The second phase for OPPD included this reach as well as a line from the Elkhorn Service Center to 120th and Pacific.

Work Description:
In 1996 OPPD purchased one of the ducts from CableVision and retained General Excavating to pull in fiber-optic cable, install 20 pull boxes at various locations along the route, and install additional duct and cable to link their facilities.

Method of Construction:
Plowing, trenching, and directional boring were used for placement of the 2-inch duct. Directional Boring was used under streets, Papio Creek, and railroad tracks and trestle. Approximately 22,000 feet was plowed or trenched, and 3,000 feet was placed using directional boring, for the Cable Vision project. For OPPD, an additional 12,000 feet was installed.

Conclusion:
The project was completed without any accidents or safety problems. It was completed on schedule and within budget.
