Our Communcations Team Leaders

John Kooistra, Division Manager
Mr. Kooistra has been heavily involved with fiber-cable project construction for nearly 20 years now. He has extensive experience in telecommunications cable installation and removal projects. His project background ranges from small jobs to the very large, such as the long-haul fiber-cable project from Omaha, Nebraska to Denver, Colorado. He has supervised crews in downtown New York City, St. Louis, Missouri and small rural areas. He has worked with clients such as Sprint, Michigan Bell, MFS and MCI, as well as several rural telephone companies. Mr. Kooistra is also in charge of securing and managing design/build fiber cable network projects.

Evert Whitten, Project Manager ­ Special Projects
Mr. Whitten is in charge of our Special Projects Division of our Communications Department. His background starts with a bachelor's of science degree in technology and 17 years experience with a local telephone company. For the past few years, Mr. Whitten has managed, coordinated and controlled the Special Projects Division at General Excavating. He handles new installations, relocations and removals of copper cable, as well as directs three specialized crews. Mr. Whitten's versatility enables him to perform detailed design for outside plant projects.

Paul Anderson, Project Manger
Mr. Anderson brings nearly 30 years of experience to the Telecommunications Industry. His first construction experience began with Aliant Communication where he supervised buried and aerial crews. Mr. Anderson gained further experience as an Outside Plant Engineer where he designed road moves, subdivisions, and aerial projects. His diverse background and ability to communicate with clients allows Mr. Anderson to work thru customer issues as he supervises new service, maintenance work, and R.U.S. projects.
