Description of Work:
Construction of three clay treatment lagoons, conveyance piping, monitoring valves, influent piping and effluent piping.
Method of Construction:
This unprecedented project designed by URS Group, Inc. created a passive wetland used to treat a contaminated flume located on the base. Three wetland cells were constructed and lined with a HDPE liner. The cells were also layered with pea gravel, sand, and river rock. Construction challenges included the clearing of a densely wooded area, and the break-up and removal of debris from a buried concrete dump.
